Layar 2.0 application for android phones.

One of the coolest new applications for android phones is Layar 2.0. The world's first mobile augmented reality browser. Giving you content layers to services like Wikipedia, Yelp, Flickr...Enable your GPS and let the browser do the rest.

Installing third party applications in android

One of the best ways to install third party applications is to use eoeAppinstaller Pro giving you a list of available downloaded apk files on your sdcard toghether with a small graphical logo of the application.

Alternatives to the default Androids homescreen application

I have installed 4 alternatives to Androids default homescreen theme with icons.

aHome Lite

Freshface

Open Home Lite

PandaHome

When pressing the homescreen button I could toggle between different homescreen apps. All with their own settings, homescreens, themes and icons.

My favourites are Freshface and PandaHome. In Freshface I have an theme allowing me 5 screens to put my apps.

Give it a try.

Android apps-Alternatives to default market

It exists alternatives to the default market for android applications. I have tried SlideMe (Sam 2.8) and Handangos InHand. SlideMe has more apps to offer than Handangos InHand and several of them are free, but Handangos InHand has applications you could buy. I found some useful applications not available in the default android market. Give it a try....

Chrome Os first glimpse - Fake pictures

It seems as if more and more people get fooled by not checking properly their sources of information. The latest one having a big hype at the moment is the fake pictures of Google Chrome Os Private Developer Beta originated from the Chromeosleak blog, even several IT newspapers has being fooled, the norwegian ITavisen is one of them. It's funny to see that the first comment made about the article by a reader is stating the fact that it's all fake but eventhough the comments keep coming in, why don't people bother reading?

It's really scary to see how easily people get fooled.

Which Linux distribution to choose?

The easiest answer to the above question is simply to choose the Linux distribution that is right for you, but how do you know what is right for you before even having tried the distribution?
Distrowatch could be of great help in leading you in the right direction with their short description of different distribution and also by ranking their popularity. My obvious choice is to choose those running a gnome desktop it's quite simply much better than KDE, but that's my opinion.
You could also try the different distibutions by installed virtual machine software like vmware player or Suns Virtualbox, if you don't like the distribution just delete it and go on "hunting".
I am no trying out Sabayon Linux 4.1 Gnome 64 bits ver. live iso through Suns Virtualbox

Today I installed Open Solaris 64-bit version in Suns Virtualbox, it's running smooth and no problems so far, I have 1 GB Ram and 16 GB virtual disk dedicated to the virtual machine.

Some libraries use YouTube to promote general information to their users. Not at all a bad idea. Take a look at University of Illinois libraries and their learning videos here.

Library 2.0 network on Ning

The Library 2.0 network on Ning is the brainchild of Bill Drew. I have a my page on the Library 2.0 network but haven't used it much lately. I am planning to try and use it more often to see how it could fit into my work. It's easy to be judgemental before you have even tried something and seen it's true potential that's why i have decided to try and seek out the true potential of the social network of Ning.

My profile you will find here, expect to see "radical" changes in the near future.....
